The 147th winner of the St Leger, held on Wednesday 13th September 1922 over 1 mile 6 furlongs and 132 yards of Town Moor, was Royal Lancer, a bay colt by Spearmint out of Royal Favour, owned by the 5th Earl of Lonsdale. A field of 24 runners contested the race which was worth £6,500. (Equivalent to £291,900 in 2017)
